University

Tue Sep 29, 2009, 11:57 PM
It occured to me that I haven't posted anything about how I'm going to the University of Alberta for Engineering.

Oh wait, I just did.

Everything is awesome, except the work load. That pretty much sucks. If you think highschool is bad, I laugh at you. Ha HAHA! They should make a month of university mandatory for grade 12 students, so they can get the work ethic, and then thank their high school teachers for assigning such easy assignments.

In three hours, we learned everything about wave lengths we did in highschool, and then some. It was fun.

Res is awesome, and being able to take a five hour block of time to get an assignment done is great. Supper/dishes always interupted it before.

Oh, and the school beaucracy is pretty dumb. They think I am a dishonoranable theif.

I've meet a lot of cool people. A guy called Protic is in all my classes, so we hang out a lot. And gasp fairviewites, he's not white!!!!!

I was in a dorm with 5 asians and another white guy, doing an EngG 130 assignment. (Check out my cool class code. It makes outsiders feel inadaquite to take a course they can't even understand the name of. Yay for three dimention vectors. (They actually suck a lot.))

It is now 2:00 (class starts at 11:00 on wednesdays, mom) I must go to bed. (In my very cool room.)

(If you look at the dates of my other journals, expect another one in two months.)

Oh ya, I have a chem midterm on thursday, and I've only been here a month.

Amazing Tutorial

Fri Jun 19, 2009, 11:22 PM
I was browsing the internet and found this: [link]
For an illustrator newb like me, it is amazing, especially since I was recently looking at something like the project they made in the tutorial and thinking it would take a whole lot of work with the InDesign pen tool, which is what I mostly use. This tutorial is so full of information, it's amazing.

If you don't know, you can get cool new fonts here: fonts.com
I recommend browsing through the top 100 fonts. I found and Old English font, a pen and ink font and a wild west font. I had to look online to figure out how to install them, but you just have to go to the control menu/appearances and themes/ and in the side bar there will be a fonts folder (In windows xp) You can drag the true type files in there, and a window will pop up showing you installation progress. It takes a second.

In other news, exams are creeping up on me. It is most annoying.

This is cool. I logged on today, and saw that a note was waiting for me. I wondered about it while the page was loading. (Slow computer is slow :P ) To my great suprise, I saw that a photo of mine, [link] had been featured in the fifth weekly article of Undercurrent. It spotlights various unknowen deviants.

Lately, I've been caught up in school and the approaching finals. I hope to get back to doing artistic things this summer, because Im going to be the camp photographer at Camp Sagitawa in British Columbia. I also have some pictures I took but didn't have time to edit. There is no internet at the camp, so I'm hoping to start submitting at the beginning of next school year. Until then, I'm going to lurk a bit.

I downloaded the POV-Ray 3D graphic engine (or whatever it's called) and the Wave Pad sound editor. I'm going to play with thoes a bit too. Is there some way to submit songs to DA? I have something that's sort of cool that I made for english.

MLA for a day

Wed Apr 22, 2009, 2:41 PM
On Monday, I went to Edmonton for the MLA for a Day program. It lasted 1.5 days (They were careful to not say two). I got to debate a bill on the floor of the Legislature, a place that only MLAs are usually allowed to go. I saw the Premiers office (There's a secret door in the wall that leads to a fridge.) and the paintings that followed you with their eyes. There were a lot of smart, intelligent people there, since they were the ones that thought politics would be interesting. I shared a hotel room with a Chinese guy named Ye, although people just called him Max. We were divided into parties and asked to create a platform to present to everyone else, who then voted. The Banana Party won, partly due to the fact that they wanted Alberta sovereignty. The food was pretty good. I met someone who might be coming to the U of A and be doing the same sort of thing that I am. I learned that whom is used after a verb, as opposed to who. I took a lot of pictures, some of them from the very tiny tower thing at the top of the building, which was very cool.

Wow, that's jumbled.

By the by, I now have massive amounts of homework after missing two days of school. Anyone else hate trig identities?
